(SRN NEWS) – President Biden will bear the dubious distinction of being the president who did the most to promote transgenderism while in office.  Mr. Biden named multiple transgender people to influential positions across his administration.  He also overturned a ban on transgender people serving in the military and made it possible for U.S. citizens who do not identify as male or female to select an “X” as the gender marker on their passports.  President Trump has vowed to undo all of Biden’s transgender decisions as soon as he is sworn in.

Officials at Rutgers University say they will install new safeguards for Jewish students as a means of settling a complaint by the Department of Education.  Hundreds of reports of anti-Semitic acts on campus prompted the government to move against Rutgers — one of several major U.S. universities that have seen a sharp uptick in attacks on Jews.  It all began in the fall of 2023 with the devastating attack by Hamas on Israel, which has sparked a global surge in anti-Semitism as well as a multi-front war between Israel and various Muslim terror groups.

Pope Francis has named Cardinal Robert McElroy of San Diego as the archbishop of Washington, D.C. He is tapping one of his most liberal allies to head the Catholic Church in the nation’s capital just as President Trump is about to begin a second term.  McElroy has harshly criticized the campaign by some U.S. bishops to exclude Catholic politicians who support abortion from receiving Communion.  He has also urged his fellow bishops to deemphasize abortion and focus instead on issues such as racism, immigration and so-called climate change.

Wisconsin’s Democratic Governor Tony Evers is reviving his plan to enable voters to repeal and create state laws.  He crafted a similar proposal in 2022 for voters to repeal the state’s 1849 abortion ban, but Republicans killed the plan.  It is expected that they will do so this time as well.  Evers claims that the GOP has been ignoring the will of the people by refusing to legalize marijuana, expand abortion and implement gun control measures. Wisconsin is among 24 states that don’t provide a way for people to create or repeal laws without legislative action.
